Remaking the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) legislative instruments

The ACMA is seeking public comment on the remaking of EMC Labelling Notice and EMC Standard that support the regulatory arrangements for devices. The legislative instruments discussed in the consultation paper will sunset unless they are remade before their sunsetting date (1 April 2018).

The Legislation Act 2003 provides a regime for the automatic repeal of regulations and other legislative instruments after 10 years, unless action is taken to exempt them. This process is referred to as 'sunsetting'. To preserve the effect of a legislative instrument, it needs to be remade before the sunset date.

Issue for comment

Opportunity to provide feedback

The ACMA welcomes comments from stakeholders on our proposal to remake the EMC Labelling Notice and the EMC Standard without any significant changes, on the basis that each of them is operating effectively and efficiently.
